Still Life
The beauty and potential of the present moment can often be obscured by the allure of nostalgia and the weight of past experiences, leaving us with one foot firmly planted in the past and the other hovering above ground, uncertain where to land. In these moments of reflection, there is a quiet but palpable tension, as the pull of the past invites us to reconsider, reframe, and sometimes even revisit old decisions and experiences. These pauses in time become a kind of threshold, where the passage of time feels more tangible, and we are confronted with the complexities of who we were, who we've become, and the space between those two selves.
Though the past is fixed in memory, it is not static. With time, it can shift in meaning, offering new perspectives as we grow and change. In the act of looking back, we might find ourselves seeing familiar moments in a different light, understanding them in ways that were once beyond our reach. Sometimes, these recollections bring a sense of peace, a quiet acknowledgment of how far we've come. At other times, they stir up feelings of longing or regret, reminding us of paths not taken or mistakes made. But in all cases, they serve as a bridge, connecting the person we were to the person we are, and offering insight into the person we might yet become.
